When it aired: 1977 – 1984 Starring: Ann Wedgeworth (Lana Shields), Don Knotts (Ralph Furley), Audra Lindley (Helen Roper), Norman Fell (Stanley Roper), Richard Kline (Larry Dallas), Priscilla Barnes (Terri Alden), Jenilee Harrison (Cindy Snow), Suzanne Somers (Chrissy Snow), Joyce DeWitt (Janet Wood), and John Ritter (Jack Tripper) Think of Three’s Company as the Friends of the 1970s. The program followed Santa Monica roommates Jack, Chrissy, and Janet, while married couple Helen and Stanley Roper ran the apartment. Almost as popular as the show itself is its infectious theme song from Julia Rinker and Ray Charles, “Come and Knock On Our Door.” There were many characters on Three’s Company, and a lot of them entered and exited during the show’s nearly 10 years on the air. Audra Lindley, Norman Fell, and Jenilee Harrison all left the show for other opportunities, but actors like Priscilla Barnes and Don Knotts joined, rounding out the cast. The show was so popular that it spawned numerous spinoffs: Robin’s Nest, George and Mildred, Three’s a Crowd, and The Ropers.
